See, some things do happen quicker on monos.

Re: Getting Too Fat to Sail

I'm ready to head out of San Diego and go south down the coast to Mexico where I'll be going snorkeling and exploring ashore. When I was visiting Germany for 10 days I walked everywhere and lost 10 pounds, even while having hearty meals for dinner and lots of great beer.

Re: Getting Too Fat to Sail

In the cattle business it used to be called changing white muscle to red muscle. Red muscle weighs more than fat.

sorry people, i jus couldn't resist.
Amusing for you to denigrade the relationships of others. If that's what turns you on well enjoy your petty comments.

Been happily married eleven years now, family of five, two hers two mine, and one ours, anyone who thinks they know more about us than we do ourselves can kiss my ass!

Re: Getting Too Fat to Sail

For losing weight I'm glad I have a mono I need all that heeling excercise to keep me fit.

I've got my 11 year old here in China this year, and you would not believe how much fitter I am after only two months, he has the energy level of a small solar system...

That's my theory. Seems to work for me. remember, muscle is smaller but weighs more than fat

Re: Getting Too Fat to Sail

I was going to ask if there are any day sailors. I have heard a sailboat is a gymnasium on the water. Now if you are in a small sailboat making a 20 day passage you will have to monitor good.

Desperate times call for desperate meassures.

Either option sounds pretty miserable the way you put it. Not sure who said it but I prefer:

Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming "Wow! What a Ride!

Yes and yes. You have to be moving to skid in broadside, however.

I am finding, seemingly day-by-day now, at 73 but still servicable with no "Low-T" issues , I am looking to the future as never before. It is difficult and kind of expensive to eat well but I think it's worth the effort. There are plenty of healthy eating tips on the net to get started and ultimately, IMHO, the lighter you are, the better you feel and more agility you have.

but no salt or "buttery" oils, thanks.

Re: Getting Too Fat to Sail

I think I get plenty of exercise chasing my tail and jumping to conclusions.

The nervous twitches help, too. All since I bought an old boat...
