Thanks, but there was still a bit of luck involved with the boat.
It was an estate sale and didn't even have a for sale sign on it. I just happened to see it at a boatyard out in the boonies that at one time was where all the crabbers in that town kept their boats near the crab houses which are gone today. We used to buy our bait crabs there in the 1970's
I had been looking for a Triton 28 based on my research on the Atom Voyages website, and this boat looked similar so I asked about it......
The owner was the son who lived in California. I bought it 2 weeks later and it's been quite an adventure ........

1970 Contest 33 for 5K (with a Yanmar engine).
To my eye, it looks like a great deal (though the ad doesn't provide too much information). A quality boat that can be slowly upgraded as you use it.

Engines are a simple fix . Got a line now on an old md17c that runs just has an oil gasket leak . ( quick fix )
