HEY! I'm only 50!! Hahahaha. I agree with you, BUT.. if you can get her to fire, you can tell a lot about the engine and go from there.

Re: FREE, or close to free!

My absolute favorite layout, two aft quarter births and the dinette set up. Asking 1k but I am guessing se will go for less, lien sale from the marina. If I hadn't already found my Columbia 29, I would have this boat already believe me.

1963 Islander Wayfarer Sloop Sail Boat For Sale - www.yachtworld.com

Loooove these boats. These would make a great cheapo round the world cruiser. 3/4 keel I believe, and yeah, build like a brick S house. They came with A4s in them so there's room for a diesel.

Yeah I think these boats are a wonderful bargain. seem to be pretty well made and I personally love the full modified keel with attached rudder. Like I said, I have made lots of progress on my Columbia 29 otherwise I would have that Islander at my house right now.

Re: FREE, or close to free!

This paceship caught my eye at $1800. It would be fun to start from Duluth in the summer and sail down to the lower lakes.

Re: FREE, or close to free!

FREE Balaton 24

With Yanmar 1GM10 One Cylinder Diesel Engine, Runs very well. Four sails in excellent condition. New Thru-hull transducer. Boat is fiberglass. Recently motored boat to Cape Charles. She ran & handled flawlessly. Bottom sanded & painted this spring. Mast is lying on deck ; will need to be stepped for use. New head & holding tank, need to install tubing which is on boat. Over the road transport or water transport as you wish. Trailer was custom built for this boat when new with push braking system. Will need wiring. European 13"wheels with bolt pattern I have not been able to find wheels for. Four existing tires & wheels are serviceable. Trailer needs to be picked up in Belle Haven, VA. Boat is in Cape Charles, VA. Interior of boat was water damaged by rainfall. NO damage to the nice Mahogany interior or engine or electronics. Fabric cushions and headline need to be replaced. Boat included brand new, never used Dodger &; cockpit cushions. Boat is titled, free & clear. This is a HEAVY boat, 7300 LBS. plus. Better suited for Chesapeake Bay rather than a lake. Balaton's were initially designed & built for the North Sea. Ideal situation is for someone to move boat by sea and trailer by land.

DO NOT BOTHER ME IF YOU ARE NOT SERIOUS & CAPABLE & INTEND ON PICKING UP THIS BOAT & TRAILER IMMEDIATELY. ALSO DON"T CONTACT IF YOU DON"T KNOW WHAT YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT OR WHAT IS INVOLVED. This is a significant opportunity for someone who really wants to sail, own a reliable boat, and is handy enough or can afford to replace the interior headliners. State your intentions & time frame in an email and then we can talk...

PICTURES WILL BE POSTED IN A FEW HOURS.

Re: FREE, or close to free!

that is a pretty heavy 24 footer by the posting details but sailboatdata.com has her at a bit more than 4k lbs. Either way that looks like it might get you sailing for free!

If I had ten percent less restraint I would buy this old girl, she is BEAUTIFUL. Lots of work to be done, but beautiful. I would love to have this old boat fixed up and cruise the family on her, wow.

An old Islander 30, flush deck with dinette layout and two quarter births. Get her before she gets scrapped. Funny, I looked for one of these for over a year and now that I am well into the old Columbia 29 I have seen no less than three pop up in the last two weeks. Go figure
