In Texas we do that kind of thing, just curious as to what's the custom in Va. Many folks wouldn't think of touching another's vessel, me I've saved many a vessel from damage by adjusting a line or two.

If you notice the video stopped there and I did tighten the back line. Too bad you weren't here to save the day earlier.

Good location and one of the ones I would have picked. It's protected from the northeasterly winds. Worse comes to worse Coast Guard is just around the bend at Eatons Neck.

Some photos of the flooding in the little creek marina area. The water has subsided some now.
Here in Va Beach you could have taken a kayak around my block, again the water has subsided but not completely, this evenings tide is gonna be close.

Re: Frankenstorm!
I've tried contact the boatyard several times today and there is no answer. That's not good news as they maybe busy trying to save the docks, boats etc... I was hoping they might get a visual on my boat and let me know if she is still where she is supposed to be. The flooding this morning was not a good sign. Then this "Special Weather Statement" came from NOAA:
"NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE DOPPLER RADAR INDICATED WINDS UP TO 110 MPH
BETWEEN 1500 AND 3000 FEET. SOME OF THESE VERY STRONG...DAMAGING
WINDS WILL OCCASIONALLY REACH THE SURFACE...PRODUCING GUSTS OF
70-90 MPH ACROSS THE NEW YORK CITY METROPOLITAN AREA...LONG
ISLAND...AND SOUTHERN CONNECTICUT THROUGH 8 PM. THE GUSTS TO THESE
LEVELS WILL BE MORE FREQUENT OVER SOUTHEASTERN CONNECTICUT AND
LONG ISLAND THAN OVER THE NEW YORK CITY METRO AREA."
Another high tide around midnight tonight too! I just lost power for the second time! Meanwhile the Marine Air X wind turbine on board is keeping the Engel refrigerator on board nice and cold. I hope.

Wow. You left the wind gen loose and not locked down? Hope it doesn't throw a blade and damage something or someone. Good luck to you overnight.

from previous experiance of having the eye passing over the top of me!
the good news is that in about 3 hours on it's current track and speed, you should get a lull as the eye passes over you for about 30 minutes,
us this time to fix stuff, but don't get blown off the deck when the wind comes from the other direction at full strength.
towards morning it should calm down where you are
good luck and love to sandy......the other one!

Re: Frankenstorm!
My boat is sitting up on blocks up the Connecticut River, but the storm surge may end up floating her. We have been seeing 70 knot winds all night.
Wish I had dropped the anchor and dug it into the gravel parking lot. They are
predicting an 11 foot high tide surge. Power is going out everywhere. Its all bad.
