I agree. I too want to know what happened, but think of their distress when back on shore reading critiques based on no information. Best thoughts and prayers are what's needed now.

BREAKING NEWS (Good News, too)

7:45 am PDT April 4

KTVU Oakland, CA News Report

Four responders were able to board yesterday. The little girl is reported stable. At 0800 today a C130 is leaving Moffett Field (south of San Francisco) with the purpose of being able to refuel helicopters at the site of the boat and lift off the family.

That's the hard news.

Whether Eric will choose to leave the boat is pure speculation on my part.

I was just reading Eric's blog post from March 31 and apparently they had been dealing with several days of very strong winds and rough motion. He mentioned how tiring it was to do that for days on end. So, not only did they have the distress of a sick baby, which I will tell you can really send a parent into full-fledged panic mode, but they were also tired, and who knows, maybe not feeling well themselves. And things happen to boats out there....

It's also worth considering what Jack (The Way) said. At some point they will be safely on shore and Eric will want to check in with his "family" here on CF. After the ordeal he has already been through, how disappointing it would be to see comments of criticism and bad assumptions.

I was very happy to hear that the baby is safe and soon the family will have their feet back on terra firma while she recovers. I sincerely hope that they can manage to get their home/boat safely back to shore also. I hope that he gets back to find that the community of like minded souls he has chosen to share his life with via this forum has been nothing but supportive.

You grabbed my post Jack that I had deleted ;0) I felt maybe I had been a bit strong considering no one was yet in huge speculation mode...but even a little speculation mode sent me down a very defensive path for Rebel Heart.

Thanks for quoting what I deleted though...I think it is a good reminder...and right now they just need us to hold them in a good light...

I hope thw baby is OK and he doesnt lose the boat.

Yes, he wouldnt have wasted fuel but may have been trying to get back to mexico.

This really is terrible news. Eric and Charlotte have been working on this boat for years and have just taken off. They are so much into doing everything the "correct" way and have learnt all there is to know.

Its such a long passage and when out in the middle theres just nothing. No help, too far away. He's lucky they are under the US rescue umbrella.

Lets hope he can keep the boat and get the baby back home.... But it would be so hard to continue on while the baby, and presumably Charlotte, have been flown out. Can't sail back up wind, and Marquesas are another 2,000 miles and then he's seperated from them.

Very sad. All around very sad. Can't just post a typical condolence post or card. Wanted the best for all of them on this life journey. They worked so hard and prepared for it so long.
