Fort Myers - Damage ?

Vessel appears to actually be in Fort Pierce, FL.

Reason i am asking is i saw a seller ad for a sailboat berthed there somewhere.
Web site was updated Sep 9, 2017.

Something doesn't sound too right about it as 'everything' is included.
Tools and such. Seems they just want out of the sailboat scene.

I guess the question is, did Fort Myers get any kind of hit that there could be damage to this vessel now?

Its a tad smaller than what i wanted.
Setup for solo.
Tad smaller than the shortest LOA that i was wanting.

A friend and CF member weathered the storm on a mooring in Ft. Meyers. Maybe Ft. Meyers Beach. He said it wasn't too bad. Eye went right over him. And the back side fizzled. He went to bed in the middle of it.

I lost some shingles and car/fence damage from falling trees and branches. Ceiling damage from leaking roofs. Expected worse though.

They made it sound like a planet leveler. Seems the northern Caribbean took a horrible beating. I'm looking for a remaining concrete pad that I can build on.

Re: Fort Myers - Damage ?

The ad just sounds too good to be really true.

I had posted on another thread here that i doubted i would find a sailboat already setup like i want. But this one, even if smaller, comes really close.

Has SSB, but i really doubt is it meets the new SOLAS Euro requirements.
Only one i have seen that does is Furuno at just over $7,000 USD.

None of Icom ones do, M801, M802, M710

Storm anxiety can be debilitating. It's taken it's toll on me over the years, and it's not unusual to say, "That's it, I'm done with this ****". Especially if you don't use it all that much. But for me, I get her all prettied up to sell, and by that time it's winter and spring sailing season in Fl...I calm down, wait a minute...I love my boat. OK, one more season.

That thought was actually in back of mind about the seller.

I'll wait and see.
Waiting on final settlement of house sale.
Could very well be gone by then, unless there is something wrong with it.

Did find a slip on up north of there.
Like the price there and where the slip is located.

I know the way i would like to work this, but not going to say a thing unless i have cash in hand.

I have a relative on Sanibel island. Damage was very minimal. Unless it got hit by a down tree or flooded because of plugged drains, I would not think there is much impact from Irma.

Good luck!

Re: Fort Myers - Damage ?

I picked up my boat at Fort Myers Beach yesterday. There was a sailboat up on the shoals near the mooring field and a sunk one on a dock nearby. Moss marina had a lot of damage to their docks.

Fort Myers or Fort Pierce? Different sides of the state. I have a friend in Vero which is next to Fort Pierce. They had some wind so yes it could have been damaged. I think the same can be said of Ft. Myers. You are going to have to look at it. At least ask the seller.

It is in Fort Pierce, FL.
Don't know why i put Fort Myers. I think i was remembering the last listing i had look at.

Couldn't find a way to change the subject.

i am not going to call them until i have the cash in hand.

Then i hope to find someone to actually go have a look at it and tell me what they think of it.

Will need someone to deliver it (or whatever i buy if on the Atlantic side) to the slip that that is suppose to come open in about 60 days or so, might be one open earlier.

Like i said before that vessel comes with all the bells and whistle i was going to have to install anyway. If it is gone, then i might as well buy something on the Tx coast and outfit it from scratch.

A lot of this is speculation right now because of having a set order of other checklist items that must be done to accomplish what i need.
