Force 10

We have a new force 10 stove , not gimballed as on a catamaran. When the engine is on the stove top vibrates loudly. Has anyone else had this problem and has a solution.

Re: Force 10

The top grate on our Force 10 stove can rattle a good bit too with the engine going. We find that lifting it like you’re going to clean around the burners (it’s hinged at the back) keeps it from doing this. A folded paper napkin dampens the noise when the grate is lowered again.

Re: Force 10

Cut a spacer out of fire resistant exhaust hose or a similar material. Wedge it where it would stop rattling.

Re: Force 10

A spacer that is non electrically conductive will cause the striker on Force-10 burners to fail to create a spark and not light the burner. If the burner top is not firmly set and floating slightly or cocked it may cause a weak or no spark as well.

If the engine is creating enough vibration in gear to make a disturbing rattle the first thing to check would be a dirty barnacle-covered or bent prop, engine misalignment to the prop shaft and loose/damaged/worn engine mounts. A dirty fuel system and perhaps injectors can cause a rough running engine as well.
