Sounds like they have sea room to drift for a bit. That's a real luxury. Tough to cut stuff out of prop.

hello everyone. Margo and I are anchored between the mainland and Isla Santo Catalina North of Pruerto Muntis. We were adrift 20 nm north of here and with our sails we were not able to beat the pacific current taking us south. The winds were in the doldurms, only 5 to 10kts and not for very long. It is a blast, we are working on our diesel engine and hope to have it going soon. the main tank has contamination and the fuel filters are loaded. There also may be water in the line. So, we are at anchor and will work on it. More later.

Yeah, me too. Turns out that was the short version. Here's the whole post. Sounds like they're even better than OK ... making lemonade!

Hello everyone. Margo and I are anchored between the mainland and Isla Santo Catalina North of Pruerto Muntis. We have food, water and can go ashore for supplies. Our dingy motor is acting up, but I think I can fix it.
Our diesel engine quit at 2000 rpm and wouldn't start. I think there is contamination in the line, water, and crap. Wit no engine, we have been adrift.
We were adrift 20 nm north of here and with our sails we were not able to beat the pacific current taking us south. The winds were in the doldurms, only 5 to 10kts and not for very long. So the current was suckin us back to Panama City.
Late last night, I drifted with the current and what winds we had to keep close to shore, but not so close that we would run into the surf breakers against the volcanic rock. It was slightly risky as if a storm had come in, we may have had a terrible situtation.
So, with the puffy wind and the curent I was able to navigate to the south side of the island and then I fired up the dingy motor (2 hp honda) tied to the side and moving at 0.5 kts 2 hr later, go into safe anchorage at 5:30 am.
I'm having a blast, we are working on our diesel engine and hope to have it going soon. the main tank has contamination and the fuel filters are loaded. There also may be water in the line. So, we are at anchor and will work on it. More later.
We are hopeful that we can get it going. the dingy motor will not start now, but I can row to shore. We met some French and Candian people in a cat who fixes sails, they will help me with motor as well.
Sorry for the long post, we are safe and sound so far. Anchor holding, food OK, muscles sore, but in good spirits. More later. I'm on borrowed Internet."

Sure makes ya love modern communications.
