Florida Keys Cruising

Can anyone recommend a sailboat in the 32-36' range for liveaboard/cruising. I am mostly single, almost retiired. I am told that 5'draft is the maximum for the Keys and some say 4' is the maximum.

Any suggestions?

Re: Florida Keys Cruising

In 1886 Commodore Ralph Munroe, who lived in a house called the Barnacle, designed the perfect sailboat for the Florida Keys.

Her name was Egret and she was a Sharpie. Double ended with a retractable centerboard. Draft? About ten inches with the board up.

Several replicas have been built and I believe plans are available.

Take a look at the designs by Reuel Parker in Vero Beach Florida. He draws some really pretty Florida boats including several versions of Egret in various sizes.
