What are members doing to prepare for the flood coming down the Mississippi?

Well at this point my boat is still in the cradle and about 10 ft above flood stage. If it starts to float then Lake city mn will be under

We've only been one flood,so not very experienced at dealing with them. But, if you're living on the hook, or have lots of time off, the strongest current forces will be at the deeper portions of the river, and these create safer backwaters, where the flow is less strong, and you may be able to anchor safely. Sometimes there are fairly large backwaters which could accommodate a number of boats.

Charts of the rivers involved will show where the deeper water is, and you'll have to imagine the eddies coming off the headlands, too, because you are looking for spots that all the plants and dead animals and other junk will miss. You do not want the vegetation piling up on the chain: it will make you drag.

You might try for a spot in a shallower water marina, for the duration, if you cannot tend the boat. Follow the marina's flood plan. Also, if your vessel is insured, seek input from your insurance company. Later on, proof that you tried to address the situation may help you.
