First solo sail around Antarctica?

Famous Russian sailor Fedor Konyukhov aims to become the first person to sail solo around Antarctica. Starting in January 2008 from Albany, Western Australia, the 56 year-old yachtsman will endeavor to sail his 27 metre (88') yacht Trading Network along a race track around Antarctica.

Nothing at all against this guy, who sounds like a hell of a sailor, but doesn't everyone who sails solo around the world, sail around Antarctia at the same time? I must be missing something.
I mean if you substituted Greenland for Antarctica, then I could see calling it a first. What am I missing this time? You know Americans and their problems with geography.

I agree to a point, but what does "race track" mean? And at what point does the outward track meet the inward track. Technically it should mean shortest route around. We have a Round Ireland race annually (taking all offshore islands to starboard) but you don't go round the UK as well, which would still include an Irish "round". Puzzling. . . .

That was my first thought when I read the title of the thread.

I mean really, they dont sail round the world, they sail down the Atlantic, round Antarctica, and back up the Atlantic.

Isn't that where the Vendee Globe race goes? They are all singlehanded. So what is new?
