First Season in the Books

Well guys, we hauled the boat out yesterday. It was a sad day but also a day to appreciate all the fun times we had with "Barely Awake" this summer. We made it out 18 times this season. Had a lot of friends on board, met a lot of great people at the marina, experienced some awesome sailing and can't wait to get out on the water again!

I also have come to the conclusion that we aren't ready to upgrade just yet....

I made a modified Gin Pole to take down the mast. It connects to the trailer and uses a winch to lower it. Worked like a charm, with the only casualty being a broken cleat, which isn't too bad in my books.

Pretty clean bottom after 4 months at a dock

Gin Pole attached to trailer

Heading down!

well done and glad you had a good season.

The gin pole made that look really easy!

After stepping it by hand the first time, I swore I would never do it that way again....

My first Gin Pole attached to the mast and split up the middle as we were starting to lift it up. This one worked much better!

18 times in a summer.
I don't know where Spencerport is (I guess it is in the USA as you dont say a country) so I don't know how long your summer is, but one would think 18 times is fine. Thats every weekend for 5 motnhs with 2 weekneds off for weddings...

I wonder when people do their sums on boat ownership do they run the figures to cost per actual times out?
Of course the sums are different for me cos I live on it, but when you have many parts of the world with only a 3 month summer... with 1 years maintenance / marina fees etc.

Maybe it better just not to work it out!!!!!!!!

Glad you had fun! Thats the important bit

Time on the water is what matters, and you got it! Everything else is just everything else.
