Ferro Cement - so attractive to the hip pocket

Are ferro-cement boats REALLY that horrible?

The bang for your buck seems to be incredible for this type of construction.

There have been many successful circumnavigations in this type of boat.

Looking at brokerage lists online and scrolling through the boats in my price range I'm starting to see familiar designs and lengths (usually around the 24-26 ft mark) and then I will stumble upon the occasional 30+ footer of a similar vintage and apparent condition and invariably this one will be of ferro-cement construction.

We covered FC Hulls pretty thoroughly, it's a long thread with some long posts but I'd say that the conclusion (if any) was anything but "so terrible" ... give it a read.
