Ever had Us Customs do a Fly Over and email you the Picture?

I just helped bring a leopard 47 from Grenada to Dominican Republic. 200 miles south of the DR we were buzzed by a US Customs and Boarder Patrol AWACS Plane. I called them on the radio to get a weather update, and the guy asked for my email address so he could send me photos of the fly over...

Has anyone else had a similar expierence?

Once had a coast guard helicopter drop out of the sky to read the name on my transom.
Never occurred to me to call them.

Never had a flyover but been boarded by US Coast Guard twice. Rotten buggers wore combat boots and left black footprints all over the deck. Guys with guns get to do stuff like that.

We had a P-3 Hurricane plane make a low pass over us off the coast of Honduras once. We waved they wagged their wings. We later found out that Hurricane Ida had been right behind us, we had no clue other than the weather sucked. Ida went north we went west.

Re: Ever had Us Customs do a Fly Over and email you the Picture?

I had a U.S. Navy Orion P3 buzz us a few hundred miles north of Hawaii:

The P3's commander was a friend of mine, and he was using us for a training exercise target. After his crew found us we made radio contact and they asked us to turn on our radar. They wanted to practice with some of their monitoring gear. They emailed me a bunch of photos. I sent some to him as well:

Here's a link to a short video of their flyover: MPEG

They will, you just need to travel a bit further. They must have buzzed us and called us on vhf at least 10 times when heading between Torres Straights and Darwin and also from there up to Bali.

Very cool, both of you. I bet you wished you had a bit more sail area on that Leopard 47.

I once had a Boat-Pix helicopter fly over and take a bunch of photos. Those theives wanted $750.00 for them. Maybe the gov't can generate some revenue while doing their official business....
