Don't Send Sails to Sail Care

After my genoa shredded my sailmaker told me that the work done by Sail Care had caused my sail to deteriorate. Sail Care installed a UV cover that provided 1/3 of the needed protection and their cleaning process, he said, should never be used on laminate sails, such as mine. Interestingly, I have since heard the same thing from other major sailmakers that I talked with. Sail Care denies any responsibility and will not reimburse the cost of cleaning or the expensive insufficient UV cover (Total cost over $1500!) or replace my sail which was damaged beyond repair. Be very cautious when dealing with Sail Care.
