155 miles from my calculations. This is on bluecharts v6.5 in mapsource ..... has not failed me yet.
Easy rookie mistake. Somewhere in the settings menu should be an option to change the defaults to NM from statute miles. Maybe also worth checking the lat and longs are set to deg min and decimal minutes not deg mins and seconds, or utm. Datum should be probably be WGS 84 to align with the paper charts that I hope you carry.

Rookie mistake? Yes.

But from someone who claims "40 years of commercial/sport fishing/sailing experience", and whose on-line "Marine Resume" states that he is a
"USCG Master Captain"
"Providing deliveries, charters, and lessons",
it is extraordinary.

Edit: And who has the cheek to call his blog site "coastguardcaptain.com"

^^It doesn't reflect well on the uscg certification. Maybe his level doesn't include any navigation?

Re: Delivery -> sleigh ride

OMG all this slander ...... past commercial fisherman, over 30 years of sailboat racing, I navigate in offshore and swiftsure, and passed with 100% during my USCG exam on the navigation part.

I am about ready to say ---- this forum.

We all knew that at a glance. Like Snowpetrel said. That's a rookie mistake

And learn what slander is.

And maybe learn what humility it.

Not slandering you mate..
I do deliveries as well.. different folks charge in different ways.
Most of mine is 1000nm+ so I usually set a sea mile rate..
They're a rowdy bunch but harmless..

Re: Delivery -> sleigh ride

It is not slander when people point out an error, and you defend the error. Slander is when someone tells lies about you. With all your qualifications and sea miles you made a simple error to make. Way better to confess to the "ooops!" You yourself are ruining your reputation all by yourself, by pretending there was no error to admit, then not saying, "sorry."

Re: Delivery -> sleigh ride

I don't see how this is a "rookie" mistake.

I AM FINE WITH ADMITTING THAT I USED STATUTE VERSUS NATUICAL MILES. MY MISTAKE FOLKS.

SORRY BUT I AM NOT A ROOKIE.

Re: Delivery -> sleigh ride

You don't see anything slightly dishonest about calling your blog coastguardcaptain?

Fyi, it implies that you are Captain of a US Coast Guard ship. Is this truth in advertising?
