We have just had the most incredible storm here on the Gold Coast in Australia and somehow these guys decided they wanted "out".

The story in the newspaper reads that they were attempting to cross to cross the seaway bar to head up to Mooloolaba. It then reports that they had engine problems and decided to turn around and come back in. (Oh yeah?!).

The Gold Coast Seaway is a man made channel with a large rock wall forming either side, jutting a long way out into the ocean. The southern side of which, is a very popular spot for tourists and storm chasers alike to take photos from. I have added a few photos on the seaway wall just to give you a bit of an idea.

What were they planning to do when they got to Mooloolaba? Last time I was there, that bar was shallower than the Gold Coast seaway.

From reports I saw the swell was running at around 7 metres.

They should be very thankful they never made it out.

You have to wonder what they were thinking.
