Custom Boat Graphics Question . . .

Back before I made Chief, and had a life, I did alot of custom airbrush work, mostly painting custom motorcycles..I'd like to hear opinions on interest in having boat names, or art done on your boats...kind of an idea floating around in my head for painting part time..once I retire from the Kanoe Klub anyway..

Thinking of putting some nautical tattoo flash art on our current boat for grins..

I think that would be more of a Motorboat thing.........

..........but done tastefully (??!) I might be tempted by a few scantily clad mermaids .

But I am weak like that

mega yachts is were the money would be at,,, take a look around fort lauderdale, yachting capital of the world,,,,many of the yachts use custom stick-on graphics but i have worked on a few that insisted on paint-on only

find a mega yacht owner with a motorcycle, car, and boat and make him a deal on a custom design for all three that complements each other,,, these owners like to show off there toys

No Lie. It's amazing what some folks have to blow on boats...I'd love to do the whole multi vehicle thing...looking more at a service to add name lettering and light graphics..just don't know if it's worth the effort...it woud put me closer to the used boat market though, as in the next few years I want to be picking up a much bigger boat..preferably without spending a fortune..<G> Of course I have an ulterior motive.

WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU DOJ????

If he put 50 colors of small tube paint, in the back of a van, had the ability to mix just about any color at a car dealership,,, went to a used car lot and offered to fix the little road rash repairs on the hood,, he would have no time to go sailing

mobile color match road rash repair

i used to work in a used car lot and the guy who came in weekly was fantastic,, mixed the color by eye,,,, had about 50 plus colors in the van,,, did really good work

THIS! Constantly telling people they don't want to pay me to do repairwork...not a body man...I get hired for my art...I charge as much to operate sandpaper as airbrush...more bang for the buck if I am spraying!
and yes..It better not interfere with the next sail..there is such a thing as too successful...

I wanna flame a boat...

There is one guy up this way that does Custom Lettering/Gold Leaf.

He does great characters....images...a real artist.

He stays pretty busy and he does all kinds of boats.

From Dinks to Mega-Yachts

The key is to build up a portfolio.

better to want to FLAME a boat then be a FLAMER on a boat,,,,

the guy who did the painting in the car lot ONLY put on touch up paint on the hood and such,,, never used sandpaper or buffed the work,,, only did small chip seal repair,, never spent more than 20 minutes per car,,, like putting nailpolish on a small scratch,,, not bodywork
