Hello everyone. The next post on Rhosyn Mor's blog is up, and I think everyone should read it. Find it here: Voyages: Nov 5-11, 2009 Lake Worth,...

They've certainly had their share of problems, haven't they? It's understandable that he's discouraged at this point, but I hope he waits and reconsiders his decision to sell the boat. The bad part will fade away after a time. He's paid his dues, so to speak, and deserves to enjoy the fun side of cruising. He'd be bailing out with a bitter taste in his mouth if he quits now.

A nine hour passage to the Bahamas and they'd be in Paradise.

You nailed it Hud. I wrote to him this morning, begging him to head straight down to Boot Key Harbor and stay put for a week to recharge is mental batteries. I'll post if I receive a reply...

Perhaps strictly off topic but, elsewhere I use this signature, perhaps it has relevance to cruising?

The message is the journey, we are sure the answer lies in the destination. But in reality, there is no station, no place to arrive at once and for all. The joy of life is the trip, and the station is a dream that constantly out distances us”. Robert Hastings, The Station

It's always sad to hear that a dream has been abandoned due to a difficult passage.

Don't make major decisions until after you've been anchored or docked for 5 days!

Sounds like some tough decisions to be made? Hopefully they will enjoy Miami, and cross over the stream, and get this behind them. I know the feeling of frustration can get you down. It almost got me in 93.......i2f

Well thats a shame to decide to sell the boat.
Weird how it was all happening during the writing of this thread.

Maybe I should post this on the "How many anchors?" thread too!

Just tuned in..who is this alex character? I wonder if there are some dynamics that is cramping Nick's style. There is more to this than getting beat up, sick, or boat needing repairs. Sorry, don't mean to speculate about a friends problem, just think there is more to this than deciding the cruising life is not for him.

As usual Ocean Girl, you are quite perceptive. I have been in contact with Nick. and incase everyone hasn't noticed already, he has listed his boat in the forum classified section. It would be a huge bargain for someone, but I'm really hoping he'll reconsider. I cannot share info he has written in confidence, but I will say he seems to still be considering the cruising life...I do think he would like to hear from us though...send him a PM if you get a chance. Cruisers really are an extended family, and I feel he could use our support right now.

Perhaps off the immediate topic but consistent with staying focused on the dream. I have just reaffirmed that spending 3 hours plowing a foot of snow with the temp at -5 deg F adequately maintains my attention on excaping to the boat

bchaps, Glad you are here. Where is your boat? in general terms, like a state, not a dock number. So we can offer suggestions. Mine is go buy a chartplotter. Best of luck
