Correct Fuel Filters

Hi All,

My boat has 2 Nannie 13hp engines, with duel filter systems on each. The filters on the engine I'm not too worried about, but I would like to know if I have the correct ones in the other filters.
They are DAHL 100 filters and the elements I took out of them were the 101 elements, and the first ones I used to replace them were a set that came with the boat. Later when I bought some more, I found out these were 2 mircon filters.
My first real trip with a little rough water the filters clogged up with junk from the tanks. My question is, is 2 mircon really the right ones to use? It seems a little small for the first filter in the line, and will probably keep clogging up on me. They are a pain to change and at $10 a pop, not that cheap either.

Thanks...

Re: Correct Fuel Filters

Search fuel tank cleaning and fuel polishing. Once you get your tanks and fuel clean you will not need as many filters as you are now using. The 2 micron is usually the second filter in a Racor system. First filter from tank is 20 to 30 micron filter followed by a Racor 2 or 5, then the engines filter which is probably a 2 micron....

Re: Correct Fuel Filters

Brutb,

Thanks for the reply. Is it normal to have 3 filters in a system for each engine then?
I've built a fuel polishing system, just haven't installed it yet; guess I should get on that now...:-)

Thanks again...Jeff
