Hi...
I'm sailing away in 2010....and gettin my boat ready.
Any other single sailers out there that have or do sail these waters? I am heading down River from Troutedale then was thinking the San Juans.
I'm looking for any and all info that will help me in anyway.

Thanks...Leslie

Welcome aboard. Well I'm not single, but the PNW is my stomping grounds. Lots of room up here. Fun places to visit. The Gulf Islands will keep you busy exploring and enjoying for sometime. Once you have had your fill of that (5 years or so) head north. North of Campbell river the anchorages are many and not crowded. The fishing improves as you head north. The Inside passage north is awe inspiring. One can spend a lifetime exploring the waters of the PNW and North to Alaska. There are some good guide books out there. Enjoy

Me three!

From Juan de Fuca Strait and north it goes from grand to awesome! The Juan de Fuca itself has some great sailing, and don't miss Barkley Sound on your way in (but be aware that it's the northern end of the Pacific Graveyard.) I've never sailed south of Tacoma, but have heard tell of many interesting places thataway. Kitsap, Quimper, and the Olympic Peninsula had enough to keep me busy for years.

There's plenty to see and do in the San Juans, the Gulf Islands, southern Vancouver Island, the mainland... but I have to admit that I'm more interested in the Jungles these days. That's the region of islands and channels and mainland fjords moving north-west of Desolation Sound. Even during the summer there are fewer boats beyond Seymor Narrows and Yuculta Rapids.

Of course I haven't taken a boat down to the Columbia yet, either, and I've read a few yarns about that region too...

I'm not single either..LOL...My husband works 6 days a week, and I have all days to sail and learn...but during the winter I have know one to sail with, our 12 year old, Jamie, is my skipper during the summer. I still haven't found any local sailers in my area.
