Cleaning the deck

I have just gotten a new boat and am trying to strike a balance between cleaning it up and working on it, and just going out and sailing. Anyways, I unfortunately did not get a chance to give the deck and cockpit a thorough cleaning before it got put in the water.

Anyways, it is currently moored in a harbor on Lake Michigan, and I was wondering if there are any cleaners or soaps that can be used in the lake and simply washed overboard. I plan on asking the harbor master later today if there are rules regarding that, but was also hoping that someone on here has a recommendation or some experience with this.

Thanks in advance. Everyone on here has been really helpful so far!

you simply need to use a non caustic biodegradable soap, which most are today.

my 2 suggestions

simple green for nastier stuff, it is bio friendly just dont let it sit on AL

for simply stuff get some ivory soap, either rub it on them scrub or grate it with a cheese grater then spinkle and scrub

ivory soap works wonders for just dirt
