Chesapeake Bay Water Level (Hunter's Moon!)

The water is way up on the Eastern Shore covering the roads that lead to several docks and wharves (seaside also had been up)

Is it the same in other areas of the Bay?

I couldn't even get into one of my favorite old boatyards to check out the old full keel boats that have been on stands there for years

Annapolis is getting a good bit of flooding. Parts of the boat show">Annapolis Boat Show have been flooded out. Roads are closed. We had major detours to get in and out of our neighborhood and it got close to be stuck.

I've heard numerous reports of flooding in the Norfolk area.

Maybe my brain cells are dying off, but looking at the pictures of the flooding at the boat show, I don't remember any flooding like that the six years I lived in Annapolis.

Extreme high tides on the Yeocomico River on the south side of the Potomac River. 4 of the 5 docks (B thru E) at Olverson's Lodge Creek Marina have been under water at high tide.

I live in Crownsville (on Severn, Herald Harbor ) and stalled the car yesterday on the 1ft of flood on River Road. Fortunately, it's a diesel so started up again without a problem after 5 minutes. Pirates Cove in Gailesville is flooded out so forget about lunch.

Maybe the melting ice has something to do with it.

What do your tide tables show? It is, after all, a full moon...

We had water over our dock last night, about 4" or so, very rare.

Re: Chesapeake Bay Water Level (Hunter's Moon!)

Check your barometers. High tides with low baro = extra tide height.

TS Melissa pumped a lot of water into the bay, just a combination of events.

It took a bit, but I found a NOAA statement. Melissa passed close enough to force the water in the Bay and Potomac down to the south. Once Melissa turned out to sea - coupled with a full moon high tide - the water sloshed back up.
