Got it!

Thanks.

He (Tenacious) may have had Sly boat for boat there for a while near the area were I was watching them but didn't have the position to hold it against such a fast boat

Used to race against them a lot. Very entertaining to be sandwiched between two of them, close hauled and charging over the start line in 15 knots, 6’ between boats. If you’re on the rail keep your feet up!
Wow, that's tomorrow! Skipper's Meeting at 1700 today

Re: Chesapeake Bay/Offshore Sailing

Nice post and picture on SA concerning the NA boats.

Never sell Jahn short.

He and his team have transformed the Offshore Team from a lack-luster mid-fleet team into a formidable bunch of sailors and sailorettes. I love competing against those blue boats, because you'd better bring your A-game.

Once at ARW more than a few years back, we were racing against one of the Navy 44's and a squall was approaching. There was some conversation on board our boat about reefing. While we were debating, the N44 performed the most efficient and instantaneous reefs I've ever seen, I mean the choreography was perfect. While we were digging in and getting overwhelmed in each puff, the 44 lit out like a scalded cat.

That boat in the foreground is a Beneteau First 36.7...what I sailed on for a few years and rated around 78 or so, which is why the rivalry with the kids was so fierce. Looks like Keith Mayes at the helm which would make it Jubilee. Keith is a very very good racer. We would paste the 44's in light air but they are freight trains when the wind picks up.

If you do a Safety at Sea seminar at the Academy the mids do demonstrations in the Severn in 44's. Their MOB quick stop with a kite up is pretty picture perfect.

Awesome looking boats!

As for as the Mids (kids), they are so young. We have groups of them coming through here this time of year spending time flying and crashing the Flight Sims (getting some exposure)
