Checking in to Bocas del Toro, Panama

Hi there,
we are currently in San Andres and planning on sailing to Panama soon.

We've been told that when you check in Bocas, the officials come to your boat and there's about $170 fee for the boarding services (plus the cruising permit, etc).

From reading various websites I understand that checking in other places in Panama, YOU have to walk around different offices to get your paperwork done instead of them coming to the boat and charging you extra money for that.

I know that the process in Panama is everchanging and it 'depends' on different circumstances.
But if anyone has some more info regarding that, me and my bank accout would greatly appreciate it ☺
