Catching Strippers While Cruising

First post, so apologies if this is covered elsewhere. I really like to fish while crusing, but I only seem to land mackrels and flounder. I assume most of you fish too, so what do you use to land strippers?

Mr Purpose,

Welcome to the forum. I mis-read your post, thinking along the lines of island nightlife and not fishing. I'm sure others are more qualified to answer than me.

Fresh Trouser Trout is the best live bait I've found. And make sure to use the Banana Hammock rig.

Totally uncalled for! You can do that to a sailor!

Might end up getting more views than any other post on the forum though!

I suppose that the species varies depending on location. But here in the Ches Bay the popular choice is Menhaden.

I'm not allowed to land those any more. Oh, and welcome to CF. You'll like it here.

MrPurpose, this is possibly the most entertaining first post I've ever read. Congratulations sir. You have made my day.

Regarding Stripers, I have had good luck with artificial bait shaped like Menhaden. They sell them at Wal-Mart. I usually cast them out and reel them back in, but they should work just as well for trolling behind a sailboat.

Mr Purpose, you should expect a great deal of these "interesting" on CF.
Welcome

It's part of my "Cruising on $500 a month" plan.

Menhaden? Is that some kind of cocktail?

Is this how a Menhaden is made?
