I hope all of you take notice that all of this cold air is coming from Canada! Clearly they don't want it and are sending it south. I am sure that if the US would approve that pipeline all this aggressive coldness would stop. Who can imagine what they are up to up there. ( As I sit warming my butt in front of my Canadian wood stove.)

Today its -22 C (-4 F) here in Toronto, at Pearson Airport, with enough of a breeze to make it a frostbite risk. They suspended airport operations (no landings no takeoffs) til 9 AM, cos it was "too cold for outdoor operations"...

(The poor dears. Where I grew up, we'd still have to go to school in -30 C weather. And imagine if Winnipeg's airport closed every time it dipped below -20 C, right DeepFrz ? )

But, by the end of the week, it will be above 0 C for about 3 or 4 days, with rain. Then, that will all freeze.

-sigh- only 15 weeks to spring launch. At least the Toronto Boat show is on next week.

It's warmed up to balmy -28 Celsius right now (up from -35 C over night). That -18 Fahrenheit to -31F for my US friends. That's real temperature. With wind chill we're dipping below -50C (-58F). Luckily we also have a couple of meters of snow, so at least we can get out and enjoy the winter, unlike the poor folks down in southern Ontario where snow turns to slush and crap all too quickly.

BTW, I've been thinking about living aboard in Lake Ontario next winter as we begin our extended cruise (getting to L. Ont. the first year). This winter has me re-thinking this idea .

Here's a view looking out my front door with our snowshoe trail. We're 30 meters from Lake Superior's shore. The distant steam is open water.

Yesterdays high was -11 with -50 windchill with two feet of snow in the last 7 days. Today its warming up to +7. Temp in my salon hit 38 for a low at 5:00am this morning and is currently settling in at 40.1. Thankfully its sunny so I should get some greenhouse effect today
