Mostly true, but we have a good bunch too; still, we don't expect to be considered normal. Nobody offended.

Besides, that post was way old. Just had to have a laugh.

Re: Buying a Boat in Singapore

Haha I am a member at one 15 marina but I may have to end up berthing at RSYC cos of th shortage of berths.

So I am your regular guy and I hate snobbish sailors. Never liked those snobbish types since my days in ACS

Erdnase

PM me and I'll send you my contacts. I live there but I'm travelling. As I said before, will be there next week and won't miss the free beers on Friday evening. Come and join us. Also, they have berths, they try to manipulate the market by saying they don't.

Dan

Why not join us on a Friday evening? Beer on me.

Sure Dan would love to meet up and hear about your tales. They have berths? Well I spoke to rudi the marina dockmaster and he told me its a waiting list. And I had no choice but to go RSYC to buy and secure myself a dock for my new boat.

Haha Friday all drinks on me. Boaters bar? I will come alone. How to recognize u fellas?

RSYC is a really nice club but the berths are terrible. They roll and rock and pull from the lines something unreal because of the ferries that go past all the time at maximum wake speed. Have you tried Keppel? Be aware that if you have a berth and your boat is away cruising, the marina can use your berth for another boat and pay you something back. However, this just discourages them from using berths that have been empty for a long time.

PM me and we talk about meeting up. Won't be there tomorrow but next Friday; m'afraid beer's only free for members, so beer on me if you are not. Same for Dan.

While that surely sounds tempting with Relax Lah out and in pieces I have to keep head down and tail up or I'll never finish. I have a hard stop on October 29. I still may not make it but it is in my sights...

I have a better idea - why don't you guys some over to CSC and I'll give you an orbital and you can sand the bottom paint - LOL...

Just kidding.

Re: Buying a Boat in Singapore

PS - It would be nice to get all the Singapore CFers together. There is getting to be quite a crowd of us here and it would be great to put screen names, real names and faces together...

+1

Regarding the orbital, if I can make it on Sunday 14th I will, but can't promise yet. Will keep you posted.

I have to qualify that, I work part time so I left the Marina for 4 months. I left the boat in various places to go to work then collected it again during that time. The rest of the year I try to go to the Tioman group and so on, on a monthly basis as well. So far this year I managed to go cruising 6 times, the first 4 being Phuket and back.

I'm afraid there is a bit of drift in this thread. Should we start a new one for us Sing CFrs? Dan, what do you say?
