Bribie Island

Hi,
I have been told that rounding the bottom of Bribie can at times be a bit of a problem ,any advice on this area would be helpfull,I am motor sailing a 36ft boat from Mooloolaba to the Caboolture river, boat has a 6ft draft.
It is my first trip down ,so thought I would see if any local could could give any useful info.

Re: Bribie Island

Plenty of water going round the corner, watch your chart and sounder but you should have no problem particularly if you arrive on a half making tide. The corner there can get a good 4 knot tidal flow, so arriving with that in your favour is a good thing as well, just watch for the shark net buoys off the surf beach at Bribie near the water tower.

Your biggest issue isn't Bribie, its the Caboolture river entrance, so you will want to arrive at high tide there as well to get over bakers flats.

So time your run for at least half tide at the corner and full tise at the river and will be all good.

Agree with factor. Make sure you dangle a spoon over the back around Bribie. Should pick up mackerel this time of the year. Good sailing.
