Don't forget "Captain Ron". Our favorite on charters.

Re: Books and Movies NOT to take on a Voyage

I watched "All is Lost" on the boat, during some pretty high winds.

I really need to put a copy of Jaws on the boat, considering my boat's name.

When we bought our first keel boat my in-laws gave my wife the book "Cape Horn: One Man's Dream, One Woman's Nightmare" , I don't think they ever REALLY liked me.

Re: Books and Movies NOT to take on a Voyage

'The Custom of the Sea'.... I was given a copy maybe 15 years ago... read half a chapter and then there it sat.... finally moved it on a few years back.

Video? One of the ones about the plane crash and cannibalism in the high Andes....... but they are more of the nature of training videos rather than entertainment..

How about the film about the Shackleton Expedition? Chilling.

My sister and I saw a movie 'Seven Waves Away' when we were kids and that movie has put my sister off any sort of boat / ship travel for the last fifty years.

Re: Books and Movies NOT to take on a Voyage

I have chuckled at several of the posts, as the good humor and thoughts of those movies or their titles caused a laugh. I am glad to see more good humor aboard CF.

There were a few mentioned I have never seen, so will have to do a bit of research (or view), one came up twice, "The Shallows."

Here is another classic:

"Robinson Crusoe" by Daniel Defoe

And another two notorious classics:

"The 120 Days of Sodom" by the Marquis de Sade

"Billy Budd" by Herman Melville. (Book and movie)

Those two might scare the crew.

Re: Books and Movies NOT to take on a Voyage

We've watched several of these movies onboard.
Don't want these onboard: Jaws series, All is Lost, or The Shallows.
The Finest Hours is a favorite
