What kind of boat and what route and destination?

The boat and selected crew for this trip.

trip from Denmark to Antigua.
So.. here's a couple of tasters..
She's 64ft LOD.. 12ft beam.. draft a tad over 3 metres..
1987 America's Cup Challenger,. usually sailed with 8-12 crew in her glory days

first thousand miles will probably be mostly to windward,and with only a 35 hp engine motorsailing is not an option!

lucky these boats are designed for windward work,though it might be wet with no dodger!

Could you maybe change it to "Boatman's Latest Adventure".. or something.. as the Florida to Perth, W.A. in 2012 was much 'Grander' at 17,000 miles.. and also just me +1... 99% of the way.. oh... that was a BR 54 ketch...

Howdy.

I think I recognize that boat.

If I am correct, it is the former Americas Cup Italian boat (Azzurra) and was converted for cruising (with cruising interior) and cruised in Mediterranean for a bit, owned by a Scandinavian owner. Of course I am getting older and may be mistaken.

It would be a memorable boat to cruise on for any distance as I always admired the lines on those 12 meter yachts of that era.

Yup.. that's about right.. met the original (1st) owner last w/end when he tied up alongside in his 'Bigger' boat..
Reckons I'm bludi nutz to try the trip...

the guys that drove and sailed around the world in a DUKW AMPHIBIOUS VEHICLE reckoned that the less freeboard you had ,the less there was to get hit by big waves!.........you have way more freeboard

Well, Boatie,

Maybe the basis of his thinking you're "nuts" to try the trip is because of all the tropical storm activity, Fay and Gonzalo. Unless they take a breather, you're sailing right into a hurricane season that doesn't seem to be easing early.

How do you plan to escape the bad weather? And if you do not plan to escape it, then would you share your storm management techniques?
