Hi Folks...
Suppose I'd better put you all outa your speculations...
Got hit hard by the combination of Gonzalo's remains and a Spring tide driven in by 45 gusting to 55kt winds.. rose the water so high it swamped the breakwater and broke the chains on the pontoon I was tied to.. had to cut all my lines to break free.
Did not get away unscathed.. bent all the deck rail used to tie up forward of the mast.. ripped out of the deck in a couple of places..
In the escape the pontoon surged and caught the stern and gave it a few dings and appears to have split the hull-deck join right at the back..
Consulted with the owner who decide its better to head back to AEroskobing and get her repaired by folk who know her.. also maybe get the electrics sorted to a more professional standard...
So.. once she's there it'll be back to Portugal and 25c+ weather and sweat it out till she's fixed and ready to go again..
So everyone can stand down the 'Tug Masters'...
Special Thanks to the SAR guys on Herman Helms whose pontoon we were sharing for taking new lines through the night as ours broke.. great bunch of guys and a good laugh..
Tried loading a video and some pic's but the attachments doohicky's no playing ball

Why it's better to be a delivery captain than an owner
Glad you're O.K. Phil.

AWESOME to have an owner work WITH YOU instead of the opposite...

Cheers guys... to be honest I hope its quiet.. I'm bloody exhausted after all that heaving and hauling.. may just stick to 'Cats' after this one... to old for this teenage ****..
Can tell I was taking it serious tho'.. invested in my first ever foul weather flotation suit... nearly as hard to get into as a wet suit.. and boy do they add to the windage.. nearly got blown of the bow a coupla times...

Looks like "carrib mooring field pilot" is starting to be an attractive alternative...

No, NO, NO!

You CAN'T go over to the dark side.

Besides, they don't heel well.

(cat owners, please don't take umbrage)

Re: Boatman's Latest Adventure

I usually get envious when someone other than me is about to make a cool trip. That was never the case for this passage though. Shitty weather for the whole thing.

Hope it all turns out well.

Re: Boatman's Latest Adventure

You da Man Boatman......as everyone has said it's great to work with an owner that appears to want to make her Safe again. Your journey when she is repaired, hopefully quickly, will be much better and "the season" will be more favorable as well.

Enjoy your rest once back home, we look forward to when you "shift colors" again.

Life is good if you Keepa Smilin.......
