Boat sharing...where to start?

Hi everyone,
For years I have thought about buying a boat, but one of my main problems, apart from the expense, is that I know I don't have enough time to use it... I recently nearly bought a catamaran, but at the last minute pulled out. I have been thinking of the possibility of sharing a boat with someone, which I am sure would suit me quite well. Only thing is I don't really know where to start, so I thought I'd start here!
I am pretty flexible as to the kind of boat. I like boats in general, as long as they have sails! She could be a cat (I have 3 kids) or a classic, wooden or otherwise.Or even a cruiser/racer, anything really! The boat would have to be based here, where I live, which is not that bad as I live in Corfu, Greece. My job would make me an ideal boat partner as I own a chandlery! And obviously I would be willing to do a lot of maintenance, as I used to work in a boatyard.

Anyone interested?

Hi papapete - i am in a boat partnership. I met my partner through our sailling club. We had the same goals for sailing, similar aged kids and similar outlook on boat maintenance and so on. The partnership is working well so far.

Maybe you have yacht clubs near you there and you could post a notice?

My "neighbour" at the marina...

A couple of boats down from me in the marina is a boat that is sort of time share.

It's a 37' powerboat, brought new, and turned over about every three years.

I think that there are about 10 "owners".

I chat with the manager from time to time and he reckons that the owners get about 13 uses each year, but it does not seem to be used that much.

Costs discussed look to work out at $10 - $15kpa.

I know that you are looking at a sailboat but you sound like a busy family man, and this looks to be a really practical arrangement. Book, step on boat and go.

I'd be sure to read the fine print with a magnifying glass before agreeing to anything.
