Boat name on double ender?

Hello,

Where do I put the boat name and port of call on a small double ender? Both sides? Stern?

Thanks,

Gil.

We have the name and hailing port on both sides of the stern.

Ditto we have both name and port on both sides at the stern but this was a requirement of local laws. You should probably check your own local laws for the approved method.

We do too. Not that anyone pays any attention to it with the advent of AIS.
Went to phone in to customs the other day, I started in on my phone protocol- boat, how many on board, etc... They interrupted me with " we have been following your boat on AIS since it entered our waters. Already have done background check on passengers, captain, etc. You are cleared. Have a nice day ( and hung up!)

I've seen this before. I think Bumfuzzles had that on their monohull.

Er, they had a catamaran!

Yes, Gil, port and stbd, or so Jim says.

Thanks, both sides it is then. I guess I was just hoping to save on lettering... Any good advise on that would be appreciated. Paint or stickers?

Both sides! Double-ender friends don't let double-ender friends go stern only!

Whatever you do, avoid this. Was on a trailer in our yard this past fall:

As far as paint vs. vinyl is concerned, you'll pay for the privilege of having it hand done, and most report vinyl as being pretty durable. If you trust your eye and hand you can save by having it done by a sign shop and applying it yourself, but you give up the safety net of any warrantee I expect.

Re: Boat name on double ender?

With vinyl you can play around with different proofs so you can see what it will look like ahead of time. In my opinion vinyl is also more precise.

Google "boat lettering". Design it yourself online or let them design for your review and approval. Pretty cheap and easy to apply. Stay away from the comic book and psychedelic fonts, please.
