Best Place to Sell a Boat (Eastern Carib or states)

Hypothetically (or not), if you are a US citizen currently located in the eastern Caribbean and need to sell your boat (Tayana 42 in great shape), where would you get the most for your money? Is selling it in the islands the call or is better to sail somewhere back to the east coast to sell? I don’t really know about tax implications, brokerage fees, etc in the various islands and the states. Would appreciate it as I believe my cruising time on the boat is running out.

On the East Coast the best price will be found in Annapolis or Newport. Newport has the advantage that sales of boats in Rhode Island are tax free, attracting buyers.

Re: Best Place to Sell a Boat (Eastern Carib or states)

Thanks for the responses. I guess I need to do some comparing of boat costs/sails in the islands versus the states and learn about the tax implications of selling in the islands. If anyone has more advice, I would appreciate it!
