Best North American boat show?
Hi all, which is the best boat show to attend that would have the most monohulls and catamarans?

Re: Best North American boat show?
I plan to go to the Miami sailboat only show in Feb 2015- not sure if it's the best but it's the one I can get too. It will be my first sailboat show so I"m looking forward to it. We've always gone to the powerboat shows for fishing boats- slowly getting him to see the light.....

Re: Best North American boat show?
I go to Strictly Sail Chicago in January to break up the winter. You get to see the hulls (production hulls, and a rare cruiser), most vendors, and the writers. All inside one huge room, can be done in a day. Miami was fun and quite overwhelming, and better cruising boats, way too much to see in a day. For me Annapolis is next year, this year it is boat dollars on the boat.

Miami or Ft. Lauderdale.

Go to Miami. The Ft. Lauderdale show is almost all power.

Re: Best North American boat show?
Been to strictly sail Miami twice and plan to go again in 2015. Ft Laud is power boats. Even after living down there for 23 years, Mia is a blast between the show and the culture. Attended Annapolis for the first time last year and have tickets to go again. Can't wait. Last year's stormy Annapolis weather during the show enhanced my experience of the boats as it's not always beautiful weather when your sailing and touring the fleet during inclement weather gave you a taste of that.
To me, Annapolis is bigger but both are great. Hard to choose! Never been to Newport.

Annapolis is head and shoulders above the rest for sailors. Miami is second.

Re: Best North American boat show?
Thanks Gord. There are lots of great people on the site and tons of useful info. I just started the sailing dream/mid-life crisis a few months ago. Going to check out boats in Annapolis, see what's new and maybe in 5 years pick one of them up as used, saving a few dollars.

Re: Best North American boat show?
Haven't been to Annapolis yet, but been twice to Miami. Miami is a stunning show, and if you can make it down there in anyway, shape or form, do so.
Interesting would be to hear comments from those who have been to both... is anything missed by not attending one or the other?

Re: Best North American boat show?
I've been to boat shows up and down both coasts, including, of course, Annapolis, Miami, Fort Lauderdale....
Annapolis for sailboats.
Fort Lauderdale for power boats.
Miami's OK.
