My copy of Riggers Apprentice arrived!!! Will be heading to home depot to get a couple lenths of rope to practice with. finally some "hands on" to go along with all the reading!!!!

Don't bother. Just go to your closest boat club to find some 8mm dirty dacron in the bin.

I should have mentioned this is what I use for the jib sheets. The main halyard uses the double-overhand, as do all the winter tarp lines and quite a few lashings. Sometimes when I write about what I'm visualizing, I forgot others can't see it!
