ARC Eastbound or Westbound

Hi Friends,
I plan on joining a boat to do the ARC across the Atlantic
in the next year or so.
What are the pros and cons of each way
Westbound, Gran Canaria-Saint Lucia November/December
Eastbound, USA, Bermuda-Portugal May/June

Building experience before it's my Time2Go
Have RYA Coastal and have been across Biscay
So kinda know what to expect
Just need some insight on the different routes and times of year

Re: ARC Eastbound or Westbound

Do you want to begin in the Spring, or Fall?
The ARC Rally departs in November from Las Palmas westbound to St Lucia, and the Transatlantic eastbound to Europe departs from Antigua in May.
The westbound voyage is downwind and usually the easiest.
