Anchoring in Badija Bay, Korcula, Croatia

Just found out the Port Authority are now charging vessels staying overnight on anchor in the section of bay close to the Franciscan Monastery.

We were charged 150 HrK for a 40ft (12m) boat.

While I can understand the Croatian Authorities wanting to maximise the revenue from the sailing industry, this seems excessive and could be the thin end of the wedge. It is bad enough that so many bay are now concessions and full of mooring buoys (not a bad thing in some places) but to be charged to sleep in your own bed on your own anchor with no facilities is a step too far.

Apparently between the small island and the navigation mark is free to anchor.
