Anchor weight?

I'm looking to anchor a 22' sailboat that displaces 3000 lbs. Is there any reason not to use the biggest anchor I can manage? I was thinking about a 25 lb Danforth. It will be used in primarily mud/sand. Should I go heavier?

Just more weight on the bow... You should be fine with a 25 lb. Danforth

A 25# Danforth is a huge anchor. A Danforth 12B is rated for a boat to 38 ft. Albeit the manufacturers are optimistic. Generally there is no reason not to use a big anchor though, just weight in the bow and storage. But Danforths can be hard to handle in any size and may not store well. Just something to think about. You don't need too much on that boat.
Danforth types have huge holding power, another reason you don't need too big a one on that boat.
