Question Add an Arch for the Mainsheet and a Bimini?

Considering purchasing a 33-36 ft cruiser.
Have you added an arch for the mainsheet and bimini?
How was it mounted?
Backing plates used?

I don't think you should use an arch for the sheet; it would need to be VERY much stronger than for other uses.
That said, almost every sloop and cutter down here cruising has some sort of arch. But few have taken into account what adding that much weight to the end of your boat will do to her sailing characteristics? Add a dinghy using arch as davits? Buy some more chain!
Definitely, the largest backing plates you can fit.

Not such a big deal, but not cheap either.
Mine weighs less then 100#. My backing plates are 1/2" G10 epoxied to the underside. I could pick up the whole boat with the arch. The mainsheet is a sideways pull. No flexing with mine.
BTW I'll be mounting a self leveling radar and several antenna's.

How do you plan on using the traveler on an arch?

Don't know how Hunter puts a traveler on the arch.
The company making the arches will probably help with that.
Would have to see how Hunter puts a traveler on the arch before installation.

My setup............ I built an adaptor (angle plate) so it's user friendly.
