About to start our world cruise

I have followed this forum for a number of years and learned quite a bit from you fellow sailors. Green with envy, I read about how some of you were sailing to exotic places and on many occasion, wished it was us. But alas, we first had to overcome some formidable hurdles before we could do likewise. In the interim, we keep fine tuning our yacht, doing a bit of maintenance work and a huge amount of upgrades. Many of our upgrades originated from members of this forum, plundering and modifying their ideas to suit ourselves.

The time has come and finally, it is our turn to sail away. We will start the first leg of our world cruise in less than 2 days from now. With that, a huge thank you to you all who in one way or another contributed to our long time dream.

It has been awhile since I have been on this forum and only saw your post now.

We left from Cape Town, South Africa and participated in the Governor's Cup Yacht Race to St. Helena in the multihull class. We came second in our class and was the fifth boat to cross the finish line. We stayed for 2 weeks and then left for Salvador, Brazil and arrived 12 days later. We are now in Recife for another week or so - working our way to the Caribbean. Thereafter it is the Panama canal into the Pacific going East.

Hopefully you will be going West. Enjoy the South Pacific, as it is the best part of the trip.
