Re: About the Fisher 34 pilothouse ketch

I stand corrected. I just seem to remember that the sail area displacement ratio is in the low 12s. Our boats are both around 16 and our previous 2 boats, both racing boats, were in the low 21s.

Re: About the Fisher 34 pilothouse ketch

The 46 is indeed a beauty.

To be realistic. The all round medium Fisher for cost and berthage is the 37. We have one in the family. Contrary to my boating colleagues, Im a sucker for the heavies and the hybrids. A mild blow will get it moving and 20 knots plus it will climb from 6.5 upwards.... Ive been on at a nice 8 knot clip.

Why do I like these motor sailers? The feel of the vessel is solid. The looks are classic work boat lines with softened edges. The interior is like your home. The wheelhouse is everything I love about motor boats and it has sails!

Its not slow. Its not a speedster but it is just fast enough to get you there without wasting time. It has the mix of workboat and fun that I appreciate. Its big enough to single hand and small enough to totally enjoy.

PS.. I totally hate wet rides... Did I mention the wheelhouse?

Love them.
