That is a tough question and before you go solo I would suggest you do this trip and most pf the legs as crew pn boat deliveries.
Doing so you will learn NOT JUST FROM THE BOOKS but by sailing and from experienced skippers who cannot afford to break the boat or get it injured.
I did it and would do it agaîn.
So doń't give up the great idea but sail whith as many skippers as you can and enjoy it.
For finding deliveries go to the web and looks for " crew wanted"
All the best

Nothing we say to the OP can give him a reality check. I'd be more concerned with anyone foolish enough to go with him. Who knows.... Maybe he is a terrorist. Maybe he is seeking asylum in Egypt after a strike he is planning in Boston. Just sayin.

pirate Re: A Sailing Trip

Met a group of young guys on the hard in Portimao fixing up their big old wooden boat... had started falling apart by the time they got there from the States.. they were from some obscure religious sect and bent on reaching the holy lands..
Nice bunch of lads... good workers... and they did not try to shove their god down my throat...
