Breaking the bank can be a problem and most of us need to consider that issue. It depends on your bank mostly. The difference from 35 to 45 feet will break a lot of banks. The ability to handle a boat is largely the sailor as much as the boat. Controls handy in the
cockpit while desirable are not mandatory. Most modern boats have some if not most controls handy enough. Experience helps overcome many problems and practice is really required for even a 35 ft boat. So being new I would say nothing will be easily handled until you can get enough practice with something.
Price is also related to location and location may have implications for where you can keep a boat and easily the costs of doing so. Some places have large waiting lists for boat slips and so you may need to be as concerned about where you keep it as what boat you might acquire.
