Badsanta: You should put that in your signature line ..Thats destined to become a classic...

Would really like to hers from thease guys...My gut tells me they faced up to the reality of the situation but you never know...Men are an industrious lot.

It is sad to see a good portion of someones Life's work be left to decay like that but it is what it is..I do wish them luck though and I know how the draw to resurrect something gets under your skin...I have done it twice...Lost money and time both times...it would have to be a very special vessel for me to do it again.

Some of us only learn by doing though ..and i had to learn the hard way..no amount of talking could convince me otherwise ..So I have learned to not try and discourage but just share my experiance and let the chips fall where they my..Cool boat design though.

Yep, we need to post that somewhere for easy access. It could have been used in several threads... And I have absolutely no doubt it will be needed in the future. Maybe for me.

We all know of horror stories around these types of projects.
I guess I was just hopping to hear that these guys pressed ahead and that it all turned out OK.

Let me say at the outset that I think this is a HUGE mistake and a total waste of time, effort and money. Nevertheless...you guys are adults and entitled to make your own decisions and if it is to go ahead I will wish you well.

Of interest to you may be the voyage/drifting of Reid Stowe on the schooner anne which he and family built out of fer-a-lite back in the 70's. He has now been at sea with her for around 550 days and while everything ELSE on the boat is broken or failing, it seems like the hull is the one thing that has held up well. You may wish to get in touch and take a look at 1000days.net.

I personally think it’s a pour investment of time and money as well….However I’ve seen some rare instances where extreme passion can over come some pretty tough challenges…..these guys sounded very passionate.
