Re: 21 Days Until Flounder Season

It'll take three weeks to dig my car out of a snowbank. Perfect timing!

Re: 21 Days Until Flounder Season

Sometimes I miss going fishing and having ice form on the spool. Or knowing that my catch is flash frozen by Mother Nature.

The I look out the window...

Hey how was the cod run this year?

Re: 21 Days Until Flounder Season

Funny that you mention cod. Anyone who hasn't eaten cod which was caught the same day has just not tasted codfish. It is delicious. The numbers of cod are still poor but there is some good fishing off the wrecks in summer. The big spring runs are a thing of the past because the George's banks are swept clean by factory ships year after year.

Re: 21 Days Until Flounder Season

That stinks!!! Used to fish for cod, while wifey made fresh sauce at home. Fillet the fish, then scrape the bones to get the last pieces of the meat. Bake the fillets, sauté the scrapings and add it to the sauce.

THAT was 5-star dining. Truly miss that.

Truly there is nothing better than fresh cod, especially large fish, those huge flakes when pan fried.
I won't get any fresh till July.

I did however have salt cod last week "fish and bruise" but I'm running low on that.
