Sean, I have wondered that myself!

Why didn't you move your yacht south for its refurbishment, and start your first charters down there? Even the Chesapeake??

I''m guessing the refit was timed to end about the beginning of the New England sailing season, but, man it's got to be tough living aboard and dealing with and doing some of that work when you've got two feet of snow and/or temps in the single digits!!!

It's been interesting hearing about and following your projects as you get ready to charter; please keep the updates coming!

We are on the Chesapeake in VA & it was 15 degrees F when we woke up. Combine that with the 10-15 knot NW winds so the wind chill should be in the single digits.. Only 29 more days to the vernal equinox......

We must be having the same weather as you guys on the other coast. It's been 15º here for the pass two nights. At least it's sunny during the day. I cut the grass earlier this week and use the lawn mower as a snow blower on the shady side of the house.

They had hail in L.A.,Ca yesterday as well.

Lightfin: So true. We had some non-boat work around this area that helped us with the cost of the refit, so it made sense for us to stay here. It offset the enormous cost in refitting this boat.

I should say I wanted to be a little bit closer to the equator. ha ha

So I see from everyone else's replies, we are all a bit chilly this February. I guess the Earth has to keep its *average* winter temps fairly constant. We had nice, balmy 60 degree weather at the end of January. Now we pay!

Just threw on a T-shirt to go do some sanding on the tri. It is a bit chilly (low 60's) but should be nice if the rain misses us

I guess it is just my nature, I still lean to the higher latitudes.

I like warm tempratures. Never was a big fan of cold weather under 50 degrees!!

If I had my wish. I have it 75 year round!!

Suppose I should move to the tropics?

At least you guys have some degrees to talk about. I don't have any, as in Zeroooooo.
Other day it was zero F at 0730 and 50 at 0930.
That's minus 18 C to plus 10 C in two hours. Then a North breeze came in ( Arctic Air ) and we dropped to freezing in about 20 minutes. Those are bigger changes than some places get in the couse of a year. We range 138 degrees in the course of a year if we have a very cold winter and a very warm summer.
That is a 66 degree range C.
Auckland NZ has large barametric pressure changes, enough to shatter crystal and windshields.

I have hiked Alaska's Southern Glaciers in March, cross country skied in Minnesota in December, and laid on the ice replacing frozen fuel filters in my truck in South Dakota in January. I would take any of these experiences to packing sheetrock in the 115 degree summer of Phoenix, or riding across the dirt roads into Death Valley in June. Aside from my foot gear, I find myself packing most of my Arctic gear when I am on the ice because it is just not cold enough to need it.
