We would like to know where year round live aboards can go to get out of the Caribbean hurricane season and humidity June - October and then return to the Caribbean? We have a 40 foot motorsailer.

Canada or south of Brazil, it's wintertime down there south of the equator. Anyplace warm in the winter like the carribean is HOT in the summer.

North Dakota. As they say, "If summer falls on a weekend, let's go on a picnic!"

Too hard to sail there. Nova Scotia is okay for temps and humidity in summer.
Or have two boats. Port Orchard is great in the summer. That is my plan.

Pretty good. I used to describe south Florida weather as "three summers and a fall".

Re: Year round living aboard in the Caribbean?
We are in Bonaire for the third season...
Mostly south of the hurricanes.
Safe moorings for $10/day above a great snorkeling and diving reef.
Great restaurants and good supply chain for food
One of the best mechanic/electricians in the Caribbean
Very very little crime.
Heat and humidity not bad, we sleep under fans and rarely use the A/C

Re: Year round living aboard in the Caribbean?
Many cruisers head to the Rio Dulce River in Guatemala or the east coast of Panama.
You won't get away from the humidity or rain, but you will be safe from hurricanes.

Yes, two good options for hurricanes, but definately wont escape the humidity on the Rio. Ive lived on the Rio for years, but boat is now laid up in Bocas del Toro, and we are renting a place in Volcan, Panama...up in the cool highlands...thats one strategy escaping the heat/humidity. Could do the same in Guatemala, layup the boat on the Rio and retreat to the highlands. Antigua and Lake Atitlan are popuar. We also like Coban.

I thought Venezuela and it's surrounds was a no-go place these days.

Re: Year round living aboard in the Caribbean?
Aruba, Bonaire and Curacao are basically Dutch, 20-75 miles from Venezuela and certainly Bonaire is one of the safest places in the Caribbean. Big Dutch naval and Coast Guard presence.
From 5 yrs in the Caribbean we think Bonaire it is the safest in the entire Caribbean except for St Barts.
But you are correct Venezuela is better avoided.
