Re: Wintering in the Bahamas

We did cross to the Bahamas on December 15th, and spent 4 months doing Exumas, Eleuthera, and the Abacos. We are still learning and can't wait to get back! I think it takes time to figure out where to go, and when.

I never did find Vasco! I guess he knows where to hang out....places we haven't found just yet. We'll keep exploring.

We are back in Texas for a rest after 19 months and 5000 miles of cruising. I'll probably head back east after hurricane season next year. Still living aboard, and tied up at Harbor Walk Marina in Galveston. Any of you Texas sailors want to meet up, let me know.

Re: Wintering in the Bahamas

Ralph,

Had a late start this season, didn't cross till March. We met many friends already on their way home. Did manage to catch the Family Island Regatta in GT.

We're taking it one year at a time now as far as cruising goes but we will be out again in December. Hopefully we'll cross before March.

Re: Wintering in the Bahamas

I really did look for Breathless at every anchorage. Happy to hear that you made it down. The regatta looks like fun. I know Backpoint has one too, maybe in July? I'm too chicken to stay that late.

We tried to make it to Georgetown again this year, but blew it off because of winds. It was a quick trip to Eleuthera, though.

Have you been to Long Island? How about Conception Island? Those were two of the places we had hoped to go this time. Oh well, next time! So many islands....so little time.

Yes. Conception is worth the trip and Long is very nice. A nice side trip from GT for a week or so is GT to Conception then to Rum Cay and then Long on the way back. All weather dependent of course.
